Today is the start of a very large project I have taken on as a manager of The French Laundry, in Fenton, Michigan.
The project is to eat and blog about every item on all of our menus: breakfast, lunch and beyond, supple suppers, and pastries and desserts. This will take a considerable amount of time, since our menu is very large and we often have specials and new items added to the menu.
This project comes from the idea that our guests will be able to visit this blog and read the history of our menu items, and receive an honest opinion about them, coming from possibly one of the pickiest eaters anyone has ever met. My current favorite foods are chicken and salad and I rarely stray from this menu and try new foods, hopefully this blog will broaden my horizons as well as those of the readers.
Please feel free to comment and ask questions! We would love to hear from you!

ReplyDeleteWe Know It's not Hamel, He eats anything
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion...post a picture of the food you are eating/reviewing...that will help people like me who rarely venture to try anything "new".
ReplyDeletePictures will be up tonight..
ReplyDeleteCurious, were you inspired in any way from the movie, Julie and Julia, to do this blog?
ReplyDeleteLindsey this is such a great idea. I will be reading everyday to find out what you think, and to get the history of all are menu items.
ReplyDeleteJason,
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! I watched the movie a few weeks ago, and the idea of doing a blog myself came along when I realized that I should be learning more about the food that we are serving. The blog allows me to learn and share what I have learned with other people that find it interesting as well. Thanks for reading!
I can't wait to see everyday what new food you try... you were always such a picky eater growing up :) If you like it...it must be awesome...ox
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! French Laundry is my favorite restaurant, especially with the lunch sandwiches. I haven't had the joy of going there since my last visit in Sept./Oct. 2009 but when I do go back home to visit my mother or grandfather I will be stopping there.
ReplyDeletePresently living in Japan teaching as an English teacher. Japan has an interesting culture and much good food. But one thing they don't have are good sandwiches. The white bread here makes wonder bread seem wholesome. My sandwich cravings have to be dealt with on the rare occasions when I go to Osaka or Kyoto and get a sub from 'Subway'. You know it's sad when that becomes a gastronomical high point in your month.
We just moved back to MI and love Zingerman's! I honestly would quit my job as an ER RN to work there baking bread or serving sandwiches all day! Then we found your restaurant in Fenton and love it too.
ReplyDeleteI just found this blog but why did you stop posting in Sept 2010? Do you need me to help you continue (hint, hint...smiling ear to ear and patting belly)?
Would love to read more and eat my way through your menu too!
